It's Wall Paint Day! 

The man picked up samples yesterday and found his jam... er zen.

Second one to the left he liked for the breakfast area.

 I still would like purple. We are figuring that out. 

He liked the THIRD one from the left for the Powder room. 

Makes a great choice for a tiny room. 

Light of My Life

 We did it. Well, he did it. I asked him to find a way.  So where there’s a Will… (hehe) 

14 Feet later… 

Daddy, hope we made you proud. We rented a 14 ft ladder from Home Depot, your favorite store. :) 

Today, I had a neighbor walk through. She was happy to see the layout of another nearby home and remarked at the size of the kitchen. The eat-in breakfast area is going to be the bomb!!! Oh, and we got the cooktop today! We… I should say, my husband - converted us over to electric and capped off the gas connection. There was also no proper venting so we bought a hood too and ran the proper hvac which is now fully operational. Now we’re cooking with (not) gas! 

Good on Paper < Real Life

Some things on paper don’t make sense in real life. The stairs go up to all the bedrooms. 

We prefer no shoes inside; so it made more sense to provide extra cushion on a primary route. 

Second change: the feature wall got resized. We know that the positioning of this house is mostly shaded year-round. So instead of dark “plummy” walls on all three sides of the breakfast area, we’re doing just two walls, with the neutral brighter paint on the north wall to invite the eyes outside. I love having a cornered breakfast nook! Maybe I’ll get one of those fancy loveseat benches… what are those called? 

I haven’t decided whether to do eggshell or satin. I have to get a sample of the satin to try on the wall but I think eggshell will produced a muted warmth to mix the contrast of the bright view outside with the big heavy furniture inside. Of course you can’t see this, but trust me, I think it’ll create a calm wake up space.

 

 

Vision to Fruition

Before, you see an industrial, functional space.   After, hopefully… an inviting space for morning sun.

I feel like this transition will be Instagram worthy. Ha

 

 

Feels like I traveled far from the blue/green scheme. However, after studying the neutral color family, it made sense to pull the plum of the granite. 

  

 

Flooring is down, onto paint!

 Living Room flooring is installed. Now we finish and add quarter rounds.

Taking care of the boys without Dad being around has been a LOT of crazy. We’ve had quite the adventures going and forth between our current and new home but sheesh - I’m ready for a break!
